Mysuru: Marigowda, close aide of the Chief Minister, who is facing charges of threatening Mysuru DC Shikha may soon run out of luck as police have rushed to Kottayam in Kerala based on tip off about his current whereabouts.
Marigowda is absconding since 19 days after his bail plea was rejected by a city court. He has switched of all his mobile phones and is using his friend’s phones to evade arrest. Based on a tip off, Nazarbad police team led by station inspector Satish has rushed to Kerala. It is learnt, he has taken a hotel room in Kottayam whereas the other police team is in Bangalore to trace him.
Marigowda-CM link?
Marigowda entered public life as a gram Panvhyath member in Beerihundi village of Mysore taluk in 1995. Then he became the taluk panchyath president on a JDS ticket and developed close relationship with Siddramaiah when the latter was in JDS. In 2000, he won ZP elections and became ZP Vice president with congress support. In 2006 he left JDS along with Siddaramaiah and joined congress party. In 2008 he became Mysuru ZP president and two years later obtained the primary membership of congress party with Siddaramaiah’s support. Though he failed to obtain the party ticket for Chamundeshwari assembly constituency in 2013 yet remained as a close confidant of CM Siddramaiah. Using his political clout he occupied the position self-styled super CM in Mysuru district. The threat and abuse case forced him to abscond 19 days ago and even now he is on the run to evade arrest.
Houses locked?
Marigowda’s three wives have locked their respective house doors and have left their residences to evade police queries. Even his supporters have switched off their mobiles to prevent police inquiry related to his whereabouts.
It remains to be seen whether he will fall into the police net in Kerala?
