Mysuru: The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) scientist from Mysuru who went missing on October 6 was, on Monday, found in Vijayawada.

A police officer told PTI that the young scientist, identified as 24-year-old Assistant Scientific Officer Gulla Abhisheka Reddy, was found in Vijayawada and “is on the way to Mysuru”.

Without divulging any further details, the officer added that the police are investigating exactly how Reddy went missing from his rented home in Yelwal of Mysuru.

Reddy had moved to Mysuru from Chitturu district in Andhra Pradesh a year ago after he secured a job at BARC, 15 km from Mysuru.

The police suspect that since he was allegedly suffering from depression and migraine, he left without informing anyone.

While Reddy had been missing since October 6, he had been absent from work since September 17. When contacted by the office on October 5, he informed that he would report for work on October 6, but that day, he left home on his two-wheeler without his wallet or mobile phone and did not return. His neighbour last saw Reddy leaving his house on a two-wheeler on October 6 afternoon.

His superior TK Bose lodged a missing complaint at the Yelwal police station after Reddy failed to show up to work and a case was registered by the police.

Reddy’s sudden disappearance led his worried friends to launch a social media campaign to find him. Yelwal Inspector NH Yogananda had told IANS that Reddy had been staying alone after his parents’ death a couple of months ago.
