As monsoon showers continue to lash Mysuru, MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan assured that robust preparations are in place to ensure permanent flood relief in Nanjangud and Varuna constituencies — especially for residents in low-lying areas.
Speaking at the Taluk Panchayat MLA office in Nanjangud, he emphasized that last year’s floods prompted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to initiate long-term relief strategies. The Nanjangud Taluk administration has already identified suitable relocation sites, with official communication being handled at the government level via the Mysuru District Collector.
“There’s no forecast of flooding in the Kapila River yet, but our taluk officials — including the Tahsildar — have been instructed to remain vigilant,” the MLA stated. He added that despite consistent rainfall over the past week, readiness protocols have been implemented across departments.
The Municipal Council Chairman and Commissioner have already convened meetings, conducted surveys, and drawn up lists of flood-prone areas within the municipality. “Residents of low-lying localities such as Hullahalli need not panic. We are fully committed to your safety,” he assured.
The press meet was attended by former MLA Kalale Kesavamurthy, Tahsildar Shivakumar Kasnur, TAP Executive Officer Gerald Rajesh, Personal Secretary Mahesh, and several party leaders and workers.
