Modi Coat steals the show at Kalavaibhav

Mysuru: If you are a fan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s style, then here is an amazing opportunity to take home a slice of his fashion statement. The simple yet elegant coats have become such an integral part of the PM dressing that these coats have been named Modi coat and Kalavaibhav -2017 going on at JSS Urban Haat has decided to tap the craze for Modi coat by keeping for sale some wonderfully made tussar coats. Department of Industries and JSS Urban Haat have joined hands together to host the event that is witnessing good response.

For the first time, Maharashtra State Handlooms Corporation has set up its stall here and one of the most sought after item at the stall is the ‘Modi Coat’.

It is believed that despite the coats being in market for decades, the sales and demand for the same shot up only over the last five years. Everyone attributes the popularity of the coat to the Modi craze.

Wandhere of Maharashtra State Handloom Corporation said “For the first time we have set up stall in Mysuru and there is growing demand for our products especially Tusser sarees and Tusser coat. After Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, the demand for tusser coat is huge and the name itself got changed to ‘Modi Tusser coat’. As we come under Indian Handloom Brand we can’t compromise with quality.”

For the benefit of the customers, Maharashtra State Handloom Corporation is selling their various products including Modi Tusser coats for 10 to 20 percent discounts. The Modi Tusser Coats are available in four different colors,- saffron, natural color, blue and Pink. The original cost is Rs 3500 but it is available at Rs 2500 at the Expo.

Apart from Tusser coats and various other products there are also attractive products like lace knitting, tribal arts of bastar,various types of eco-friendly bags. The craft bazaar provides a platform for a direct market linkage between the artisans and the art loving general public. More than 60 master craft persons from all over the country are displaying their products at a rural ambience, and demonstrating their finest crafts. National and State awardee craftsmen are also presenting live demonstrations in Art and Craft making and displaying various products which includes Punjabi Phulkari Suits, Bhagalpur Tassar Silk sarees/duppatta, Bastar Iron Craft from Madhya Pradesh, Horn Products, Grass Mats/ Curtains, Jaipur Kurthas and Raprons, Kanjivaram Silk Sarees, and Molakalmur sarees of Karnataka, Jute bags, Banaras sarees and Dress Materials, Channapattan Toys, all kinds of Terracotta items and other Handicrafts and Handlooms Items.

The mela will be kept open for public from 10 am to 9 pm. There is no Entry and Parking fee for exhibition. The ten day Kalavaibhav which kick started on September 1 will conclude on September 10.
