Much-awaited air connectivity from Mysuru to start on Sept 3

Mysuru: Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, all set to operate flights between Mysuru and Bengaluru from September 3, a four-member Air India team from Bengaluru, headed by Station Manager R. Kannan, inspected the Mandakalli Airport on Sunday August 30.

Earlier Mysuru Airport Authority Director Manoj Kumar Singh held a meeting with various stakeholders including Mysuru Industries’ Association, Travel Agents’ Association along with the other officials in the presence of Mysuru MP Pratap Simha.

During the meeting Singh informed that flights from Kempegowda International airport, Bengaluru will depart at 6 am and arrive at Mysuru by 6.40 am. Flights from Mysuru will depart at 7 am and land at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru at 7.40 am.” Booking slots are open online as Alliance Air is yet to come up with its office in Mysuru.

MP Pratap Simha, addressing the meeting, said that previously, flights between Mysuru – Bengaluru were stopped for want of load. But the resumption of air services between the 2 cities is an important development considering the industrial climate here and the potential for tourism development, he observed.

Stressing on the need for all stakeholders to ensure that the flight service gets sufficient number of passengers for a profitable operation, the MP said the proposal for expansion of the runway at the airport had hit a road block as the State Government was not responding suitably for diverting the Mysuru-Nanjangud highway.

Mysuru Airport Director Manoj Kumar Singh, Lohitt Urs (member of Airport Advisory Committee), CII Mysuru Chairman Dr. N. Muthukumar, former Mayor and Mysuru Industries Association (MIA) President P. Vishwanath, MIA General Secretary Suresh Kumar Jain, Mysuru Hotel Owners Association President C. Narayangowda, hotelier Ravi Shastri, industrialist S.L. Ramachandra and others were present at the meeting.

Online booking of air tickets for the Mysuru-Bengaluru flights to be operated by Alliance Air starting will start from September 3.
