Mysuru: Enchanted by the beauty of Mysuru city, a group of Mumbai corporators are here to ‘study’ more about hygiene and cleanliness process followed in the Royal City.
But, unfortunately the tour of the Mumbai corporators has created ripples because it seems more like a junket rather than a study tour, which is not going to yield any good to Mumbai city.
As per sources, a batch of 46 corporators from Mumbai have arrived in the city on a four day study tour.
They arrived in two luxury buses and are put up in a prestigious five star hotel in the city. Mumbai Mayor and 15 other corporators will arrive on February 6 and join the team that is ‘studying’ the topic.
However, the point that has left people in a state of surprise is that each of the corporator has come to the city along with his respective family and is occupying a luxury room in the hotel. They are seen touring the city, visiting famous tourist destinations and jollying around, sparing no time for studying the topic- hygiene and cleanliness.
A visit to Mysuru palace, two hours of leisure stroll in Mysusur Zoo, lavish lunch, luxury travel, exotic stay and much much more. If this is study tour, then the Mumbai Corporators have redefined it for sure.
Adding to this, it is said that some of the corporators even got into an altercation with the local photojournalists who tried capturing the glimpses of the junket.
A woman corporator allegedly picked up a fight with the journalists and said: “There are a lot of problems in the country, don’t you have any other work?” The corporators who were unhappy with the photojournalists clicking their high profile- Rs 50 lac budget tour demanded that the pictures clicked should be deleted right away.
As per sources, the same batch of corporators had even gone on an Andaman sojourn/ study tour for four nights and stayed in luxury suites costing Rs 14,000 per night. The matter came to light when they picked up quarrels with police and media there.
It is time people of Mumbai woke up to demand answers from the elected representatives.
