Mysuru: “My statement about politics was taken out of context. I am keeping my options open and politics is just an option I might be willing to explore in the future,” clarified Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.
He was responding to a question asked during an interaction with students during world photography day celebrations organised by the Mysuru District Journalists Association on Friday. Rajamata Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, Senior Photojournalists Poornima Makham, Yajneshwar Achari and Satyabhoda Joshi were present at the event.

Wadiyar also spoke about his passion for wildlife photography which developed during the time spent in the jungles around Mysuru. Responding to another question about his presence on Social Media, he said it was a personal choice to connect with more people on social media. Being involved with people is vital as we now live in a democracy.

Interacting with the photojournalists gathered at the event was interesting, Wadiyar said, as they portray him in the newspapers and other media.

He also responded to questions about the royal family’s relationship with the government and the ‘sarala Dasara’. Expanding on previous statements, he said the government’s celebration of Dasara is in no way connected to the Dasara that is traditionally celebrated in the Palace. The Palace would celebrate Dasara in its usual traditional manner.

Senior photojournalist Poornima Makham said she hoped more women would become photo journalists as there is no other profession which offers the same experiences. “Each day is different from the next, no two days are same. There can be no better way to live life and have a career,” she said.

An exhibition of photographs taken by photojournalists in Mysuru was on display at the press club as well.

Yaduveer Wadiyar joked that the worst photographs of him get published despite photojournalists taking a million photos of him.

He also said he used to use a professional canon camera, which he has now given to his sister. Yaduveer now takes photos on his phone and shares it on Instagram. He particularly likes taking photos of Amba Vilas Palace, where he lives.
