In the chilling aftermath of the Pahalgam terror assault that claimed 27 innocent tourists in Baisaran Meadow, tales of bravery and survival are now surfacing. Among them is the extraordinary story of a senior Army officer from Mysuru, Karnataka, whose swift response helped avert an even larger tragedy.

His brother, Prasanna Kumar Bhat, shared their narrow escape on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He described how his family—including his wife, brother, and sister-in-law—barely missed the deadly strike by minutes, attributing their survival to luck, divine protection, and the calm leadership of his brother.

The group had arrived in Pahalgam at around 12:30 PM and took a pony ride to Baisaran. After sipping kawa at a local stall, they opted for a brief walk around 2 PM. Just 25 minutes later, gunshots rang out 400 meters away—the beginning of the attack.

As panic spread, the Army officer—who remains unnamed—immediately assessed the danger, identifying it as a terrorist assault. He noticed tourists unknowingly running toward the gunfire, trapped in the meadow’s enclosure.

Without hesitation, he gathered 35–40 scared tourists, used a metal pipe to create an emergency exit in a fence, and led them toward a nearby stream, away from the firing line.

Despite weak mobile signals, he managed to alert Army units in Srinagar, prompting rescue teams and helicopters to arrive within 40 minutes. His courageous act has drawn wide admiration online, with many calling him a silent savior.
