Bengaluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will investigate into the recent low intensity blast at the Mysuru district court. The decision was taken after preliminary probe revealed similarities between the blast at Mysuru and the ones at Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh and Kollam in Kerala.
Sources in the state government confirmed that the state has agreed to the hand over the Mysuru blast case to the NIA.
The blast on the Chittoor court premises had taken place on April 7, 2016 while the blast at Kollam occurred on June 15, 2016. The explosives, batteries and use of pressure cooker were found in all the three blasts. The investigating teams after initial probe feel that the blasts are the handiwork of a single group.
As reported in the media earlier, the initial investigation into the Chittoor and Kollam blasts have indicted the possible involvement of a Tamil Nadu outfit Al Ummah, which recently has been proclaiming itself as the `Base Movement’ outfit after allying with the al-Qaeda. The outfit had claimed responsibility for the Chittoor blast through a letter sent to a government office.
