Mysuru: A-35-year old Congress leader was allegedly murdered by her husband at her house in Turaganuru, Bannur Hobli on Monday night.

The deceased Vidyashree  was also Krishnaraja Constituency Block Congress President, she was allegedly murdered by her husband Nandeesh following a quarrel at their house, says local reports. 

A native of Srirampura in Mysuru, Vidyashree was married to Nandeesh of Turaganuru in 2018, and the couple has two daughters including a toddler. She acted in several movies.

According to the sources, the relationship between Vidya and Nandeesh had been strained for some time, with the couple considering divorce due to unresolved issues. Despite the intervention of elders, which temporarily reconciled them, tensions remained high. On the night of the incident, a phone conversation between the two escalated into a heated argument. Angered by the exchange, Vidya decided to go to Turganur, her husband’s village near Bannur, late at night.

Upon her arrival, another argument ensued between the couple. During this altercation, Nandish, in a fit of rage, struck Vidya on the head with a hammer, resulting in her death. Following the attack, Nandish fled the scene.

A case has been registered at Bannur police station. The police have launched a manhunt for the absconding husband, Nandish. The body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem at KR Hospital mortuary. Based on the complaint filed by Vidya’s mother, Additional SP Nandini confirmed that further investigation is underway.

The incident has drawn widespread attention and condemnation from the community. Vidya was known for her political activity and her role in the local entertainment industry.
