Mysuru: All the three parties should give 10 tickets each to the Arya Idiga Community during this year’s Assembly elections. Otherwise, a decisive decision will be taken at the community meeting to be held in Shivamogga on Sunday April 2, warned Pranavananda Swamiji of the Community.
Addressing a press conference here, he said if the parties do not give tickets to aspirants from the Community, they can also contest as independents. Otherwise, the elections can be boycotted,” he said.
The population of the Community in the entire State is around 60 to 70 Lakh. They are known by names like Idiga, Namadhari, Billava etc. But it is sad that no party has given them adequate representation.
Shivamogga, Mangaluru, Udupi, Karwar and Kalyana Karnataka are also home to a large number of community. Therefore, he insisted that representation should be made here.
