Mysuru District Task Force Rescues Five Child Labourers In Special Drive

The Mysuru District Task Force rescued five child labourers working in shops during a special drive on Monday. This initiative is part of a month-long, pan-India child labour rescue and rehabilitation campaign launched on June 1 in observance of World Anti-Child Labour Day 2024. The special drive targeted various shops and commercial establishments in the city, successfully rescuing and freeing five children from their jobs.

The rescued children were presented before the Child Welfare Committee and subsequently admitted to a children’s home for rehabilitation. The Assistant Commissioner of Labour stated that officials from multiple departments, including labour, women and child welfare, police, child protection unit, children’s special police unit, and social welfare, along with members of non-governmental organizations, are involved in the campaign.

In a related incident, 25 youths were arrested for betting on carrom board games at a recreational club in Narasimharaja police limits. City Crime Branch police raided the club in Bademakan, seizing Rs 25,000 in bet money and nine carrom boards. The NR Police have registered a case following the raid.
