A devotional journey nearly turned tragic when a car ferrying a Mysuru-based family to Sri Kshetra Male Mahadeshwara Hills met with a startling accident on the Mallayanpura main road.
The mishap took place when the vehicle’s driver abruptly veered off the path to avoid colliding with a stray cow that suddenly appeared in the middle of the road. In his attempt to dodge the animal, the car spun out of control and smashed into the facade of a house belonging to a local resident, Satish.
The impact destroyed seating arrangements and several household articles placed in front of the residence. Fortunately, the incident did not cause any bodily harm, and the car’s occupants were safely helped out by alert villagers who responded immediately.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the family appeared shaken but unharmed, and no pedestrians were present in the immediate vicinity. The quick intervention of locals prevented the situation from escalating further.
This incident once again underscores the dangers posed by stray cattle on public roads in semi-urban and rural belts, particularly on routes frequented by pilgrims and tourists.
Authorities are expected to review road safety and stray animal management to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
