Preparations are in full swing for the grand inauguration of Naada Habba Dasara at Chamundi Hills on Monday. Kannada writer Banu Mushtaq will inaugurate the celebrations at Chamundeshwari Temple between 10.10 a.m. and 10.40 a.m., in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and several dignitaries.

Chamundi Hills decked up for the festival

The Chamundeshwari Temple has been adorned with floral decorations, while the processional idol of goddess Chamundeshwari has been polished to shine for the auspicious occasion. Authorities have also put in place elaborate arrangements to ensure a smooth start to the festivities.

Tight security in place amid political opposition

With the BJP raising objections to the selection of Banu Mushtaq for inaugurating the event, security has been tightened across the hill shrine and approach roads. Though petitions questioning her eligibility were dismissed by both the High Court of Karnataka and the Supreme Court, officials are ensuring incident-free proceedings, given the political sensitivity surrounding the event.

Packed day of inaugurations by CM

Following the temple rituals, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will participate in several key events across Mysuru. These include:

  • Flower Show at Kuppanna Park at 12.30 p.m.
  • Aahara Mela (food fair) at Maharaja’s College Ground at 1 p.m.
  • Traditional wrestling bouts at D. Devaraja Urs Multipurpose Stadium at 4 p.m.
  • State-level Dasara Sports meet at Chamundi Vihar Stadium at 5.30 p.m.
  • Dasara Exhibition inauguration at 7.30 p.m.

Grounds at 5 p.m., inaugurated by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. The city’s famed illumination, covering streets, circles, and heritage structures, will be switched on at 6.30 p.m. by Energy Minister K.J. George.

Traffic restrictions for smooth flow

With Mysuru set to witness heavy footfall and a holiday rush, city police have announced a one-way traffic system on major roads leading to the palace. Parking has also been banned along key stretches in the city centre to avoid congestion.

Conclusion

The 2025 Dasara festivities are expected to draw lakhs of visitors, with authorities leaving no stone unturned to ensure safety, cultural vibrancy, and smooth traffic management for one of Karnataka’s most celebrated events.
