Mysuru: Despite appeals to maintain cleanliness in Chamundi Hill limits, there is no dearth of garbage dumpers. Plastic, water bottles as well as liquor bottles can be seen being dumped along the road, including at the foot of the hill.
A lot of people consume liquor in the mountain range and throw bottles everywhere. Even though such activity is not permitted in this area, they consume alcohol from the eyes of the Police. They then leave the bottles on the road. Even within the temple limits, some goons are often seen throwing bottles and garbage at birthday parties.
We have vowed to make Chamundi Hill plastic and garbage-free but to no avail. Organisations have often been doing the work of collecting garbage by conducting cleanliness drives. As many as 170 trainees of BGS B. Ed College in Kuvempunagara carried out a cleanliness drive on the occasion of World Women’s Day and found heaps of bottles, plastic, covers and other waste materials.
