The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has assured action against footpath vendors following demands from the Hotel Owners’ Association (HOA), Mysore. The association urged MCC health officials to either clear vendors or allocate them designated spaces.

A meeting was held with MCC chief health officer Dr. Venkatesh, food safety officer Dr. S.L. Ravindra, HOA president C. Narayana Gowda, and secretary A.R. Ravindra Bhat. The HOA stated that unregulated vendors are affecting hotel businesses, which contribute significant taxes to the government.

Dr. Venkatesh informed attendees that a survey of footpath vendors is underway. Once the cleanliness assessment is completed, suitable locations will be allotted for them. He also emphasized reducing plastic use in hotels and encouraged businesses to adopt cloth bags with logos. Additionally, he urged citizens to report food waste or plastic dumping.

Dr. Ravindra highlighted the importance of hygiene in hotels. He stressed that all food items must be thoroughly washed before use and reminded hotel owners about business licence renewals, urging them to complete necessary procedures in the upcoming campaign.
