Alarmed by rising cases of heart-related conditions among younger adults, the Mysuru Chapter of the Cardiological Society of India (CSI) has unveiled the Mysuru Premature Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) Registry (MPACS). This two-year initiative will assess the risk factors in patients under 45 who suffer heart attacks. It also intends to evaluate how current treatments affect hospital recovery and long-term outcomes, and to identify effective preventive measures.

“When treating one patient, we understand only that person’s risk profile. Studying thousands can reveal patterns that allow targeted research. We can address problems only by understanding their scale,” stated Dr. Veena Nanjappa, project lead and general secretary of CSI Mysuru.

Beginning in September 2025, the MPACS registry will involve all eight hospitals in Mysuru equipped with cardiac catheterization labs. The city acts as a medical hub for several nearby districts. Eligible patients diagnosed with ACS will be enrolled over one year, followed by another year of monitoring to track clinical progress.

The project team includes CSI president Dr. Sasirekha D and Dr. Nikhil B. Senior investigators feature Dr. Sadanand, Dr. Arun Srinivas, Dr. CB Keshavamurthy, Dr. V Keshavamurthy, Dr. Sunil Kumar, Dr. Rajagopal J, Dr. Dinesh B, Dr. Harsha Basappa, Dr. Santhosh K, Dr. Rajith KS, Dr. Jayakumar, and Dr. Srinidhi Hegde. Additionally, Dr. Anand Lingan, Dr. Sachin Rao, Dr. Ravikumar TN, and Dr. Manjunath Anvekar will contribute as CSI executive members.
