Mysuru: Employees of the Mysuru City Corporation held a protest on Monday in response to a call given by the Karnataka State Municipal Corporation Employees’ Association Council.
The corporation staff staged a work boycott to express their dissatisfaction with the state government over long-pending demands.
Protesters asserted that local body employees should be granted the same benefits currently extended to state government personnel. Among their key demands is the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations for municipal staff.
They also urged the State Finance Commission to ensure the release of 100 percent of their salaries without delays.
The employees demanded changes to recruitment regulations governing corporation appointments. Additionally, they called for the extension of KGID insurance, GIS facilities, and the Jyoti Sanjeevini health scheme, all of which are available to state government employees but not to local body workers.
Union representatives warned the government that if these demands are not met, the association will intensify the agitation and launch a larger protest in the coming days.
