Mysuru city police recently uncovered a significant international prostitution ring, rescuing two women, including a 29-year-old Thai national. The raid targeted a local establishment, where the proprietors were charged for operating the premises as a brothel, profiting from prostitution, and facilitating these illegal activities under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
Seema Latkar, the Mysuru city commissioner of police, confirmed the rescue operation involving the Thai woman and stated that investigations are underway to apprehend the individual responsible for bringing her to Mysuru. According to Saraswathipuram police, the woman, who holds valid travel documents including a passport and visa, entered India six months ago. She previously worked in spas and salons in Delhi before coming to Mysuru two days before her rescue. After providing her statement to a magistrate, she will be deported to Thailand.
The local resident operating the illegal enterprise is the primary suspect in the case, and authorities are searching for him. He is believed to have ties with other brothel operators previously arrested in the region. The accused reportedly used provocative photographs of the Thai woman to attract clients. During the operation, three clients were arrested, and a local woman was rescued from an intoxicated state.
KV Stanley, director of Odanadi Seva Samsthe (OSS), which has been working on women’s welfare across Karnataka for three decades, alerted the police. OSS has previously rescued women from Bangladesh, Nepal, Uganda, and Nigeria across the state.
