Mysuru: The Bharatiya Reserva Bank Note Mudran Private Limited (BRBNMPL), Mysuru, inorder to transport the Rs 2000 denomination notes has increased its rail trips four folds.

Scrapping currency cannot deliver corruption-free India: Chinese media-1Sources claimed that new notes of Rs 2000 denominations are being printed in one of the two currency note printing presses in Mysuru and this has increased the responsibility of the railway authorities to ferry the currency notes to the destination safely.

Usually RBI dispatches currency notes through different modes of transportation depending on the circumstances. Authorities earlier have shipped new currency notes by air, rail and road. This time authorities concerned have chosen the rail mode specifically. Usually RBI used to ship goods and raw materials including currency notes twice or thrice in a month but during the past three or four months it increased its trips by eight to nine times. RBI consignments are sent through two wagons of express trains which are exclusively reserved for RBI. Of the two wagons, one is for raw materials and the other one for security are attached to it.

A separate railway lane is connected to RBI printing unit through Mysuru New Goods Terminal (MNGT), which is 3 kms away from Mysuru City Railway station. The lane is used exclusively to ship goods and raw materials required for various purposes including printing currency notes. The consignment has been sent to different destinations including New Delhi, Chandigarh, Nagpur and Ahmedabad as usual.
