Mysuru: General public need not worry about the their old currency notes of the now invalid Rs 500 and Rs 1000 as the new Rs 500 notes are already being printed here at Bharatiya Reserva Bank Note Mudran Private Limited (RBI, BRBNM) in Mysuru and other centres.
People after the demonetisation are forced to carry bundles of currency notes as they are being given Rs 10, Rs 20 and Rs 50 denomination notes at most of the banks and post offices. In some of the branches, they are even given ten rupee coins. For many, it has become difficult to carry those bundles of currency notes. The illiterate and old are having a tough time counting the bundles of currency notes.
According to reliable sources from RBI, BRBNM which prints all denomination notes in Mysuru, the centre which had stopped printing all denomination notes expect focusing on new Rs 2000 notes for the past two months have started to print the new Rs 500 notes. The officials who had knowledge about the ban of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes had kept it secret till Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the same during his speech on Tuesday earlier this week. Already, the printing for the new Rs 500 notes have started and may be in three weeks’ time it will be out for public. Currently, there is no talk about introducing a new Rs 1000 currency note.
The old notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 will be withdrawn and destroyed in RBI.
