In response to a bird flu alert in border districts, Mysuru’s animal husbandry department has intensified monitoring of poultry farms and cross-border movement. At the Bavali checkpost, authorities are disinfecting poultry transport vehicles, ensuring sanitization before return trips.

Surveillance has been heightened in HD Kote and Gundlupet, given their proximity to Kerala, where cases have been detected. Rapid response teams are monitoring poultry farms for unusual bird deaths, while strict protocols are in place for farm workers. Officials assure there is no immediate risk but urge residents to cook poultry products thoroughly.

With Mysuru housing around 300 poultry farms producing 58.1 lakh chickens, the district remains under close watch. Authorities continue disinfecting vehicles and collaborating with the forest department to track migratory birds. So far, no bird flu cases have been reported in Mysuru.
