Mysuru: “The special stage experiment ‘Tipu Nijakanasulu’ (real dreams of Tipu) executed by Rangayana Mysuru has created a new history in Kannada modern theatre,” said Rangayana Director and Author of play Addanda C. Kariappa.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday January 25 he said, “a total of 26 shows have been organised in Bengaluru, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Shivamogga, Mangaluru, Hassan, Puttur, Kodagu and Mandya in addition to Mysuru. All the tickets were sold out even before three days of show,which is a record and more than 20000 people have watched the play,” he informed.
“Some people who had raised disputes during the initial days of the play’s performance have gone silent as the performances progressed. They also realised the truth as another dark face of Tipu Sultan. As per recent official information, it has been revealed that Tipu Sultan destroyed many temples in Anegundi and Hampi in Karnataka. All these hidden truths have created a new wave in the State through this play. This is a victory of modern theatre,” he claimed.
“Rangayana has started the exhibition tour of Kittur and Kalyana Karnataka from January 27 to February 15 in the 2nd phase. The show will be held in Hubballi on January 27, Dharawad on January 29, Belgavi on January 31, Vijayapura on February 2, Bagalakote on February 5, Bidar on February 8, Kalaburagi on February 8 and 10, Raichur on February 12, and Ballari on February 14. Most of the tickets are sold out at all these places. Rangayana, which has set out with a target of 100 shows, will complete 50 shows by the end of February,” he said and added that Tipu Nijakanasugalu book too has set a record in sales. He informed that the 12th edition of the book has already been printed.
