Tragedy struck Mysuru district on Wednesday as two fatal road mishaps left two people dead and seven seriously injured. In the first incident near Manchanahalli in KR Nagar taluk, a car heading toward Hassan collided head-on with a KSRTC bus en route to Mysuru from Kozhikode.
The impact claimed the life of Sunil (34), a resident of Kanakadasa Nagar in Mysuru and native of Mudigere, Chikkamagaluru. Ramesh, another occupant of the car, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital. Several bus passengers sustained minor injuries. KR Nagar police responded promptly, inspecting the site and registering a case.
In a separate accident near Sindhuvallipura in Nanjangud taluk, a tanker overturned onto a moving car on the Mysuru-Gundlupet national highway. The vehicle was travelling toward Himavad Gopalaswamy Hills in Gundlupet when the incident occurred. The car driver died on the spot, while six other passengers — all from Mysuru — sustained critical injuries and were shifted to a hospital for treatment. Nanjangud traffic police are investigating the matter.
Both accidents underscore growing concerns over road safety and vehicle management on regional highways.
