Mysuru Warriors inducts 13 new faces, Karun Nair expected to lead the team

Mysuru: Mysuru Warriors, owned by Cycle Pure Agarbathies has inducted 13 new faces for the forthcoming Karnataka Premier League matches which is slated to start from September 1. In the absence of dashing batsman Manish Pandey who is busy representing the country Karun Nair is expected to lead the team.

Players were selected for the Mysuru Warriors team at the auction process held in M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday. The sixth edition will see six other franchisees- Bellary Tuskers, Belagavi Panthers, Bijapur Bulls, Namma Shimovagga, Hubli Tigers and Kalyani Blasters competing in this tournament. Under this process, 215 players had participated and were segregated in two different groups. Cine star Sudeep led team Rock star will not be part of this edition of KPL.

Commenting on the new team, Arjun Ranga, Owner of Mysuru Warriors and Managing Director of Cycle Pure Agarbathis, said , “We are excited about the way our team has shaped up. We have ensured that the team has a balance of fresh talents and experienced players. The selectors have assembled fine set of players and it will be quite amazing to see them perform during the league. We wish all the luck to the teams and hope to see some exceptional cricket in this edition.” Mysuru Warriors Team entered KPL in 2014 and emerged champions in the same season. The tournament will be hosted in the three venues– Bengaluru, Mysuru and Hubbali.

Team manager Suresh said “Though there are many new faces in the team, the team looks really good and most of them are all-rounders which is very much important in the twenty-20 format. Manish Pandey who was leading the team is not available since he will occupied with Indian team”.

Compared to last year, the 18-member team which was announced on Sunday has 13 new faces including the captain.

Players left out from last year team: Manish Pandey, Aditya B Sagar, Rajoo Bhatkal, K Gowtham, Jonathan R, Annirudh Joshi, Liyan Khan, Nihal Ullal, Abhishek Bhat, Akshay Khodath, Anand Doddamani and V Koushik.

Mysuru Warrior Team (New team): Karun Nair (expected to lead the team), Arjun Hoysala, J Suchith, KC Avinash, Shreyas Gopal, Suneel Raju, BN Bharath, SP Manjunath, SL Akshay, Nikith, Vyashak, R Prateesh, Shivil Koushik, KL Shrijith, Vineet Yadav, K Waad Wani, Vikas Kumar and Ram Sarikh.
