Mysuru Yuva Dasara starts tmrw, extended for 2 days as more colleges join

Mysuru: “The Yuva Dasara programme, which is organized in association with the Mysuru Dasara celebrations, will be held from September 17 to 26 at the Manasagangotri Bayalu Ranga Mandira,” said Superintendent of Police C B Rishyanth.

Addressing the media he said, “The programme will be inaugurated by the district In-charge Minister V Somanna and the chief guest of the programme will be Sandalwood actor ‘Golden Star’ Ganesh. Around 260 colleges will be participating this time compared to 162 last year. As there are more colleges this time, the Yuva Dasara will be extended by two days and will begin at 5.30 pm on these 10 days.”

SP Rishyanth said, “The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus charges for the students participating in the event, the training charges of Rs 100, Rs 500 for the costume design and all the other charges amounting to a total of Rs 7,500 will be given to the teams.”

Informing about the judging panel for the event, he said, “Veteran folk artist P K Rajashekhar, veteran Bharatanatyam artist Dr Sheela Shridhar, western dance artist Pooja Joshi and Rangayana Santhosh Kumar Kusanuru will be the judges for the event.”

“CCTV cameras have been placed all around the Bayalu Ranga Mandira in order to ensure security,” the SP added.

Dasara Sub Committee president and Managing Director of Mysuru DCC Bank D B Lingannaiah and K G S Secretary G S Somashekhar were present.
