Mysuru: The Mahanayaka Rakshana Vedike and farmer association members on Thursday December 1 staged protest against bauxite mining in Karya, chamanamadanhalli and Kurihundi Villages in Nanjanagudu Taluk.
The protestors alleged that the miners are still involved in mining despite the end of lease period. They alleged that the 150-acre-land belongs to farmers and thus digging up to the depth of 500 feet is against the law. They also alleged that Revenue and Mining Department officers are hand in glove with miners.
Further, they warned of severe agitation if authorities did not take action against miners within a week.
