Mysuru: Just ahead of the Dasara celebrations, Dasara elephant Laxmi gave birth to a calf on the night of Tuesday September 13 in the Mysuru Palace premises.
Laxmi is a 21-year-old elephant and belongs to the Ramapura camp. She weighs 2,540 kilograms.
This is the third Dasara for Laxmi. However, now she is likely to be kept away from the Dasara procession.
