Mysuru: Elephant tramples one, injures another

Mysuru: A wild elephant trampled an old man and injured a youth at Anemala Tribal Colony under Nagarahole National Park in HD Kote Taluk on the night of Wednesday June 10.

The deceased has been identified as Puttappa (75), a tribal from colony. A wild tusker attacked abruptly when Puttappa and another youth was returning home. The youth ran away but Puttappa was trampled by the elephant.

He was immediately shifted to hospital but succumbed to injuries. The Forest and Police Officers visited the spot. A case has been registered at Antharsanthe Police Station. Forest officers have promised to give Rs. 7.5 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased.
