Mysuru: Alert onboard Ticket Examiner Staff of Tipu Express apprehended a fake TTE, who was moving suspiciously.
The miscreant has been identified as Mallesh, son of Kariyappa, a resident of Kanakapura Taluk of Ramanagaram District. P. Chetan, Deputy Chief Ticket Examiner of Train No. 12613 Mysuru – Bengaluru Tipu Express superfast train along with AC mechanic Ravi found the offender moving suspiciously wearing a fake Railway tag and carrying a walkie-talkie in the train wearing clothes that looked like uniform.
On enquiring about his whereabouts and identity they found him to be suspicious and the alert staff immediately caught hold off him and handed over to the TTEs’ lobby In -Charge at Mysuru C. S. Bhaskar.
During the enquiry it was established that he was an habitual offender and use to pose himself as TTE and target passengers travelling by long distance train mainly while the train was running on Bengaluru – Hubballi and Bengaluru – Dharmavaram sections and said he was involved in illegally penalising passengers and collecting money from innocent passengers. Later he was handed over to the Government Railway Police.
Further investigation is on. It is said that fake TTE was collecting money from passangers for reservations and tickets, thus cheating them of money. Since last 6 months he has cheated gullible passengers of Rs. 70000.
Dr Manjunath Kanamadi, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and Senior Public Relations Officer, Mysuru Division has appealed to the passengers and public to report any such suspicious practice onboard or at Railway premises to the Railway Administration on helpline/complaint numbers 139 or 182.
