Mysuru: Floral tributes were paid to the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Diwas in the City on Tuesday December 6.
The tributes were paid to the portrait and statue at Town Hall premises, at a programme organised by the District Administration, Mysuru City Corporation and Zilla Panchayat. Mayor Shivakumar who offered floral tributes said, “Dr. B. R. Ambedkar is the social reformer who worked for the cause of women’s rights, equality and rights of oppressed classes. We should respect the great personality by treading on the path of equality laid down by Ambedkar.”
MLA S. A. Ramadas, Karnataka State Safai Karmachari Commission Chairman Kote Shivanna, former Chamarajanagar MP Shivanna, Apoorva Shivanna, Congress leader P. Raju, Deputy Mayor Roopa G. Yogesh, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K. V., ZP CEO B. R. Poornima and others were present.
