Mysuru: The Police have cracked the case of a businessman father and son, who were kidnapped and released after receiving money, The police revealed that the former employee of the businessman is prime accused in the case.
It was a challenge for the Mysuru District Police to trace the accused in this case. The kidnappers not only blindfolded the businessman and his son, but also used the businessman’s mobile phone to blackmail family members. However, the police successfully cracked the case with a hint about the person who had threatened to kidnap the businessman a year ago. During the investigation, it was revealed that the former employee in the businessman’s factory was the mastermind behind the kidnapping.
Within a week of the incident, the Police arrested a total of 10 people and a search operation is underway to the arrest another. The police also recovered Rs. 21 lakh and ten thousand rupees from the accused.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday February 13 Mysuru District SP Seema Latkar informed that lethal weapons were seized from the accused along with cash, car, bikes and mobile phones used in the crime.
On the afternoon of February 6, the kidnappers who came to the Harsha Impex Factory in Adakanahalli Industrial Area under Nanjanagudu Rural Police Station on a bike and a car threatened the labourers working in the factory with handguns and locked them in a room. Later, they kidnapped owner Deepak and son Harsha, in their own car. At this time, the father and son were blindfolded by kidnappers. After the kidnapping, the accused called Deepak’s family from his mobile phone and demanded Rs. 1 crore for release of both. They said that they would not be able to mobilise that much amount on time, and finally they pressurised them to pay Rs. 35 Lakh. After collecting Rs. 35 lakh the accused released father and son near Jalmahal on Bannur Road and fled.
A former employee of the same factory, who had full information about businessman Deepak’s business, not only demanded money but also threatened him. But businessman Deepak neglected to inform the Police about this.
Police said among the arrested are two from Mandya, four from Bannur, two from Tumakuru and two from K. R. Nagara. The first accused was sentenced to life imprisonment and was released, recently. In all 9 cases including murder and illegal arms act have been registered against him in Mandya, Mysury and K. R. Nagara Police Stations. An Arms Act case has been registered against the second accused, five cases of theft against the third accused as well as five cases of assault against the fifth and 7th accused.
On February 6 at 12.50 pm, the assailants who had kidnapped businessman Deepak and his son had been roaming around in the highways of Nanjanagudu, Mysuru City and Taluk, demanding money. They asked family members to bring money to three to four places and finally got the money at one place where in they left the father and son with the car and fled.
The Police, who received the information about the incident, said that if they had operated immediately, the lives of the abductees would have been affected, and hebce they remained silent until they were released, and then conducted a search. Police checked highways and check posts of the District. Meanwhile, the miscreants escaped and no clue was available. Later, when an investigation was conducted based on a small information given by businessman Deepak, the accused were arrested.
SP Seema Latkar said that a reward of Rs. 25000 is being given to the policemen who were in the investigation team. Nanjanagudu Deputy Superintendent of Police Govinda Raju, Inspector Shivananja Shetty of Nanjangudu Rural Station, Sub-Inspectors Chetan, Ramesh Karakikatti, Krishnakanthakoli, Kamalakshi, C.K. Mahesh, Probationary SI Charan Gowda, ASIs Shivakumar, Vasant Kumar, Staff Suresh, Vasant Kumar, Sunita, Krishna, Bhaskar, Abdul Latif, Ningaraju, Suresh, Sushil Kumar, Raju, Chetan, Vijay Kumar, Manju, and Cheluvaraju were participated in the operation.
