Mysuru: The Nanjanagudu Police arrested a moped theif and recovered 29 TVS XL mopeds worth over Rs. 6.5 lakh.
The accused has been identified as Siddaraju of Kandegala Village in Nanjanagudu Taluk. It is said that the accused was fond of mopeds, and stole them by using duplicate keys. He was stealing mopeds of farmers parked outside paddy fields and other places, and selling it for price Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 8,000.
On Thursday June 2 while police was checking vehicle documents at Majjigehalla Bypass Road he was caught with moped without any documents. Upon interrogating at Police Station he confessed to stealing 25 mopeds in Gundlupete, two each in Nanjanagudu and Chamarajanagara.
Police formed a special team to nab the thief after complaints of moped theft poured in. Superintendent of Police Chetan also announced cash prize of Rs. 5,000 to Inspector Lakshmikanth Talavar and team for cracking the case.
