Mysuru: In two separate incidents, two girls resorted to suicide over examination results as reported on Sunday May 29.
In the first incident, a teenaged girl resorted to suicide by jumping into Lingambudhi Lake in the City. The deceased Chetana (19) was studying BCA second year at a private college in the City.
According to her friends, Chetana who had written the exams recently feared scoring less marks. Fearful, she had shared her apprehension with her friends. On Saturday morning she left home on the pretext of morning stroll. However, she had taken away the scooter. She later called her friends and told them about ending her life. Shocked friends called her parents and informed them. After sometime her scooter was found abandoned near Lingambudhi Palya Gate. The body was found on Sunday. Kuvempunagara Police has registered a case and is investigating.
In another incident, Deepika (17) a native of Begur in Periyapattana Taluk resorted to suicide by hanging herself to roof of the house. It is said that she secured 509 marks in the recently held SSLC examination but she was dissapointed as she was expecting 580 plus marks out of 625 and thus took this extreme step. Periyapattana police has registered a case and is investigating.
