Mysuru: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that 2023 Assembly election will be last for him but that he would continue in active politics.
Speaking to mediapersons on Friday March 25 he said that he did not decide from where to contest but workers are inviting him to
contest from Chamundeshwari, Hebbal, Chamarajapete and Badami Constituencies. He said though he was defeated by Chamundeshwari voters, he never forgets to support voters in Chamundeshwari as he has won many times from the Constituency. He said that this constituency gave him rebirth.
Siddaramaiah said that BJP is playing vote bank politics by restricting Muslims from doing business in temple premises. He said it is hate politics for polarising votes. He further said that what is wrong in wearing Hijab by Muslim students? Even. Hindu Swamijis wear headscarf, and no one
questions it.
Siddaramaiah who made time to visit Sri Siddarameshwara Jatra Festival at his native Siddaramanahundi on Thursday March 24,also took part in the annual event with much enthusiasm.
The festival of the village deity is held once in every five years, and Siddaramaiah pays his obeisance at the abode of the Lord.
Siddaramaiah who likes to be with his close pals during his visit was as usual surrounded by the people he knows. Siddaramaiah also danced to the beat of native drums, along with equally ecstatic villagers.
Siddaramaiah said “Never have I missed the village fair. Being a native of this village, I share an innate bond with the place. I had participated in their fair even as the Chief minister and also the Minister. I have come now also. Earlier the fair was held once in two years and later it was extended to three years. Owing to Covid, the fair was not celebrated last year.”
