Mysuru’s Manasagangotri campus boasts a remarkable landmark: a 70-foot clock tower that chimes every hour, reminiscent of London’s Big Ben. Situated in front of the University of Mysore canteen, this centenary clock tower features specially made clocks by State-owned HMT on all four sides, capturing the attention of both locals and tourists.

Mysuru, renowned for its cultural richness, draws numerous visitors, and the Mysore University campus reflects this heritage. The clock tower, visible even from afar and echoing throughout the campus, has become an iconic part of the university. Built during Rangappa’s tenure as chairman, the tower features clocks with Kannada, English, and Roman numerals, operating on solar power and battery.

To enhance visitor experience, a garden with a water fountain, colorful lights, and over ten granite benches have been installed around the tower. The hourly chimes, from 5 am to 11 pm, add to the charm without disturbing residents at night. At night, the illuminated clock is visible from Chamundi Hill, making it a popular photoshoot spot.
