Mysuru/Chamarajanagar: Children at the Anganwadi centre in Doddinduvadi village, Chamarajanagar district, now enjoy a spacious and well-equipped learning space, thanks to corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding and the efforts of a dedicated NGO.
Previously housed in a cramped facility, the Anganwadi centre faced space limitations that hindered the enrollment of all eligible children. Now, with a new building in place, over 40 children aged between 3 and 5 years are benefiting from Montessori-based English-medium education at no cost.
The Amyga Foundation, with CSR backing from Walvoil Fluid Power India Pvt. Ltd, constructed the new centre, addressing the critical infrastructure gap. The initiative was officially inaugurated on Thursday by Chamarajanagar Zilla Panchayat CEO Mona Roat, who urged parents to make the most of this opportunity.
Lakshmi Ramamurthy, managing trustee of Amyga Foundation, said the organisation has partnered with the Women and Child Development Department since 2019. They currently provide free education to around 600 Anganwadi children across India, including 250 in Karnataka.
The curriculum uses Montessori tools and is led by two trained teachers, which has led to a notable increase in enrollment since classes began in October 2024.
PDO Mariswamy praised the foundation’s commitment, highlighting how the Rs 15-lakh facility has transformed early education in the village, located 75 km from Mysuru. He noted that the previous setup was insufficient to cater to the growing number of children.
