Nanjangudu: Following an extensive report by News Karnataka highlighting the severe drinking water shortage faced by the residents and livestock of Dasanur village in Nanjangud Taluk, authorities have swiftly taken action to restore the vital supply. The village falls within the Varuna Assembly Constituency, represented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

News Karnataka’s report detailed the plight of Dasanur villagers who were struggling to access potable water amidst the escalating summer heat. The purified drinking water unit located in front of the Dasanur Gram Panchayat had been non-operational, leaving public taps dry and forcing residents to endure a meager water supply only once every four days. The disruption was attributed to malfunctioning gate valves in the Kapila River water supply system.

The broadcast of the News Karnataka report spurred immediate action from the Taluk administration and the Dasanur Gram Panchayat. The defunct water purification unit has been promptly repaired, and the supply of drinking water to the village has been reinstated.

Expressing their relief and gratitude, the villagers of Dasanur have lauded News Karnataka for bringing their water woes to the attention of the authorities. This successful resolution stands as a testament to the impact of responsible journalism in addressing critical public issues.
