No hike in KSRTC bus price owing to Covid situation: Dy CM Savadi

Mysuru: Due to Covid crisis there will not be any hike in KSRTC bus fare, said Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi, who is also the Transport Minister.

Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday July 6 he said, “we are receiving recommendations from various transport corporations on increasing the price. But as we are just relieved from lockdown, and it’s Covid times there is no proposal of ticket fare hike. Also the people are still scared of travelling in the bus fearing that they might get infected with Corona. People are in crisis. And therefore keeping in mind the current situation, we have decided not to go for bus fare hike.

Simultaneously, speaking about the transport employees strike he said that, the employees had put forth nine demands among which 8 of them have been fulfilled. Their ninth demand of increment of income is difficult to be fulfilled as due to Covid the KSRTC has incurred Rs. 4000 crore. The current income of the corporation is not even sufficient to fulfill the fuel expenses. As soon as KSRTC receives better income that demand too will be looked into, he asserted.

Further, he said that the opinions on changing the leadership are just the words of MLAs. It is not the decision of high command nor the party,” DCM added.

Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi ended all the confusion surrounding his son’s involvement in car accident and said that his son was not present at the spot when the car accident occurred. He clarified that, “absence of my son on the spot is the reason behind his name being listed in the FIR copy”

“My son visited the spot when he learnt about the accident to provide first aid and ended up witnessing the dead. It is my duty to visit victim’s houses in two days and I shall convey my condolence to the victims by extending help to the best of my potential,” Dy CM added.
