Mysuru: Railways have ruled out the possibility of providing extra trains on Mysore-Bangalore route after the completion of Double Track construction work. The Railway officials confirmed that due to traffic related issues, it will not be possible to provide extra trains on the route.
MLA Vasu, who was present at the Divisional Railway Consumer Advisory Committee meeting on April 25 sought more trains on the route on the completion of track doubling work. Mysore railway station has already six platforms and it will not be possible to handle extra traffic, Divisional Railway Manager Atul Gupta said in response.
Expansion of the facility is not possible as there are several buildings around the station. The non-availability of land around makes it impossible to expand, despite Mysore railway station having a large number of visitors, Atul Gupta clarified.
There are many opportunities to reduce traffic congestion in Mysore by building terminals on the outskirts at Ashokapuram and Belagola. As the land is not available for acquisition in those places, a proposal has been sent to develop satellite terminal at Kadakola, Gupta said.
