Leader of the Opposition in the council, Chalavadi Narayanawamy, on Friday accused the state government of unfairly targeting the Mysuru royal family in the ongoing Bengaluru Palace dispute. Speaking to the press, Narayanawamy asserted that the government is specifically focusing on the royal family and urged the authorities to follow the Supreme Court’s order to pay Rs 3,011 crore in Transferable Development Rights (TDR) to the family. He emphasized that the government has acknowledged the property belongs to the Mysuru Maharajas and cannot bypass its responsibility by simply enacting an ordinance.

Narayanawamy also criticized KPCC spokesperson M Lakshmana for targeting him and Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar, who is a BJP representative and a member of the royal family. He stated that Congress leaders should not forget the historical contributions of the Mysuru Maharajas to the region.

In addition, Narayanawamy questioned the integrity of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, referencing an ongoing controversy regarding the Muda case. Despite Siddaramaiah’s family returning 14 sites to Muda, he remains an accused in the case, with no agency or court clearing his name.
