Mysuru: Pilots with their innovative remote controlled aircrafts models enthralled hundreds of people who had come to witness Dasara aero modeling show organised by Mysore Flying Association at Lalith Mahal Helipad here on Sunday. There were more than 22 different aero models which were displayed on the occasion.
Hundreds of people including those who had come for helicopter ride at Lalith Mahal helipad didn’t miss an opportunity to see the aero model show. The RC pilots who had come from different places to showcase their talent impressed the people with their outstanding skills. The youngest to participate in the show was 9-year-old Shivmithran from Tamil Nadu who after one and year rigorous training took part in the aero modeling show for the first time in Mysuru.
RC Pilot Alex Praveen who is also a professional pilot, for the first time introduced Boomerang jet which runs at a speed of 200kmph to 300kmph.
“When compared to last year, this year we have overwhelming response from the people. It’s nice to see many youngsters come forward to know more about aircraft models,” he said adding that flying these aircrafts through RC is difficult than sitting inside the aircraft.
The aircrafts models which were part of the show can travel at speed ranging from 100kmph to 300kmph for 10 to 20 minutes and fly upto 1,800 meters, but for visibility purpose in the air show it was flown to a height of 600 meters. The prizes of these aircraft models range from Rs 25,000 to Rs 2 lakh. Most of the engines of these aero models are imported especially from Singapore while the bodies are made locally.
