Mysuru: In a significant development for remote tribal communities, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) chairman and MLA Ramesh Bandisiddegowda assured that all obstacles in delivering power connections to tribal hamlets in Chamarajanagar district will be resolved swiftly. He pledged to escalate the matter to the state government and eliminate the hurdles impeding electrification efforts.

At a review meeting held with CESC officials, Bandisiddegowda focused on the ongoing energy-related works in Chamarajanagar and instructed officials to accelerate the implementation process, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

Chamarajanagar Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Nag highlighted that the state government has sanctioned ₹42 crore for the electrification of 2,000 tribal families across 42 forest hamlets. However, delivering power infrastructure to these hamlets, located in dense forest terrain, has proven to be a major logistical and regulatory challenge. With over 52% of the district under forest cover, securing permissions from the forest department remains a key roadblock.

Despite the challenges, CESC has made notable progress, successfully providing electricity to tribal settlements in Palar under the MM Hills GP of Hanur taluk. Shilpa Nag affirmed that power supply to the remaining 32 identified hamlets will be completed within the next three months.

The meeting also reviewed the status of welfare schemes such as Gruha Jyothi, Ganga Kalyana, and Kusuma A & B, aimed at enhancing rural infrastructure and livelihoods.
