Mysuru: R Ravindra Kumar, Corporator of Ward No 41 for second consecutive term who recently joined BJP and also contested the previous Member of Parliament election from Ballari is the BJP aspirant for the forthcoming assembly election from N R Constituency. BJP leader Yogeshwar and other party leaders have assured ticket for Ravindra Kumar who hails from ST community.

Ravindra for the first time, successfully contested corporation election under Congress while in 2013, for the second time, he contested as an independent candidate along with Congress and BJP candidates. Ravindra who secured nearly 2000 votes had registered a victory over Congress and BJP. Ravindra Kumar, coming from Nayaka community (ST) which has nearly 20,000 votes, is positive of coming out with good performance if the party gives him the ticket.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, Ravindra Kumar said, “In the last two terms as corporator, I have come out with various developmental works for the people. The people in my constituency were facing a lot of drinking water woes. They used to get water from faraway places but as soon as I got elected, I took initiative to provide drinking water facility in my constituency. Now, everyday atleast for two hours people in my constituency are getting proper supply of drinking water. Apart from this, I have also taken up road works and various other facilities for the people. If I get ticket and elected, I will make this as a model constituency. Will take initiative to set up small scale industries, quality education to the people, exclusive well-equipped hospital. Yogeshwar took me to Ashok and even to the other senior BJP leaders; all of them have assured ticket for me.” Recently, he also met Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Matt and sought his blessings.

The total number of voters in the constituency is nearly 2.4 lakh which includes 1 lakh minorities’ votes and 60,000 SC/ST votes. The presence of Ravindra who is a very familiar figure in the constituency, will not be an easy thing for other candidates, particularly those from Congress and Janata Dal (S).
