Raju murder case: Four including prime accused in police net

Mysuru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested four persons in connection with murder of RSS activist Raju, who was done to death in broad daylight while he was having tea at Vinayaka Tea Stall in Udayagiri on March 13.

Raju murder case: Accused sent to judicial custody-1Addressing a press conference, Police Commissioner B Dayananda said that the four accused have been identified as Abid Pasha alias Bhaiyya alias Usman of Hunsur, Ayub Khan of Kalyanagiri, Mohammed Hanif of Azeez Sait Nagar and Hamid Khan of Ghousianagar. Abid Pasha, the prime accused who was arrested by the CCB sleuths has confessed to the crime. Based on information provided by Abid, the CCB arrested Ayub Khan on August 12 and produced him before a Court which remanded him to Judicial Custody. After arresting Ayub Khan, the CCB arrested Mohammed Hanif on August 17 and Hamid Khan on August 19. All the four have been booked under Sections 15, 16, 17 and 18 of the Prevention of Illegal Activities Act.

Four other murder cases solved

During interrogation, Abid also confessed to have involved with his associates to commit four more murders including murder of Thyagaraja Pillai near Annapurna Hotel in Hunsur town on the night of May 21, 2010 and advocate Shanthi Prasad Hegde at Moodabidri in 2010.

Abid, along with his associates, had murdered Shashikumar on June 9, 2009 in Udayagiri Police limits when Shashikumar was opening his hair-dressing saloon in Rajivnagar and added that the gang led by Abid had assaulted one Giridhar in NR Police limits on July 3, 2009. Abid is also involved in seven murders and three attempt to murder cases. Abid, who dropped out of school in Hunsur after studying up to third standard, took to crimes after being inspired by the anti-communal forces, the Police Chief said and added that a rowdy-sheeter had been opened on Abid in Hunsur Police limits.

This apart, Abid, who was arrested for plotting the murder of advocate Jagdish Shanava at Yana Hospital in Mangaluru in 2010, had gone absconding after getting bail, Abid also confessed to have abducted Vignesh, son of a businessman in Hunsur and his relative Sudheendra, both students in Mysuru, on June 8, 2011 and demanded a ransom of Rs. 5 crore for their release.
