Mysuru: Patients in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya district hospitals are facing problems with the rising number of rats and bandicoots.
In Mysuru, caretakers of patients have come out and complained to the hospital authorities that the food they keep for the patients is often eaten by rats. Sleeping and eating in peace has become a rare occasion for these distressed people who have said that they come across these rodents in toilets, under the beds and even nibbling at food meant for patients. Several times when these rats don’t get food, they reportedly eat bandages.

District hospitals are now witnessing several patient parties leaving the hospitals due to the rat menace causing unhygienic conditions.

According to sources, the reason for the rising number of rats in this hospital is the nearby Devraj Market. The hospital has enlisted the help of a private company to catch these rats but they have clearly failed in their mission.

Action will be taken at the earliest, assured Cheluvamba hospital Dean Dr S Radhamani.
