Mysuru: Ravi D Channannavar, took charge as the Superintendent of Police, Mysuru district on Sunday late evening.
Ravi D Channannavar, who hails from Gadag district, had his early education at Mulagunda Government School. Hailing from a poor family, he completed his studies working at a hotel. He had earlier served as the SP in Dharwad and Hassan.
In his earlier position as additional Superintendent of Police, Belgaum, during communal clash, he had earned a good name for his Bollywood style of functioning, where he entered the houses of the trouble-makers and nabbed them but unfortunately few days after the incident he was transferred.
He had cracked down on sand mafia in Shimoga where he earlier served as SP. Due to his good work, people of Shimoga when came to know about his transfer even staged protest demanding government to reinstate Channanavar. He belongs to 2008 IPS batch.
