After having a meeting with district officials, he said, “To start with, Bengaluru was called Pensioners’ Paradise but now it’s different. There are a lot of industries there now and most of them prefer Bengaluru. It’s the same with Mysuru now. It’s nice to see the progress of industries in Mysuru. People have already started to prefer Mysuru and already many industries have come and many more will follow in days to come. A few days ago, Mahindra company has given a proposal, to set up electric cars.”

Action against those fail to set up industries after allotment of land

When questioned why most of the industries even after getting permission and land allotment, have not started the work, he said, “Already we are penalising the industrialists for not starting the initiative to set up the firm even after allotment of the land. More such actions including in Mysuru will be taken in days to come. Fines will be imposed for delay in setting up industries”, added George.

More infrastructures for industrial areas

He also mentioned that during his inspection of industrial areas, he managed to see lack of infrastructural facilities. “In days to come, steps will be taken to improve infrastructural facilities in industrial areas including providing an exclusive place for landfills. Apart from this, based on a request from former MLA Vasu, the helipad will also be constructed at the industrial area in Mysuru city and solar lights in industrial areas.

‘Government is stable’

When asked whether industries were coming forward to invest in the present coalition government, George said, “Whether coalition or independent, any government is a government. Even at the centre and in many states it is a coalition government. Every day we are getting many proposals for setting up industries. For this, we should also appreciate the previous government’s efforts. This year, we will be having Tech Summit in November.” Regarding conducting annual tech summit in Mysuru and other cities including Hubli, Belgaum and Tumkur, he said a decision would be taken during the coming meeting.

Sort out residents’ issue at industrial area

During the meeting, when an issue was raised regarding the residents complaining about “nuisance” by industries, George called upon the authorities to take this issue seriously and even convene a meeting in this regard to sort out the problems.

‘Industries should give employment to local people’

Nanjangud MLA Harshavardan called upon the minister and authorities concerned to instruct the industrialists to give job opportunities to local people, especially the land losers.
