Hunsur: High school children studying in a school in Hirikyathanahalli village of Gavadegere taluk, on October 26, were shocked to find that someone had mixed alcohol in the drinking water.
Around 193 students are studying in the school and a few of them smelled alcohol in the drinking water. They informed the head master, who instructed them not to drink the water, and made arrangements for an alternate supply.
The school, within a 6 acre campus, is on the outskirts of the town but many miscreants await school closure to use the premises as a ‘drinking hub’ as well as a ‘gambling den’, it is gathered.
School children, on arrival every morning, end up cleaning the litter of plastic, bottles and playing cards.
Reacting to the incident, the school head master said, “I could smell alcohol in the water but cannot confirm whether it is alcohol or some other substance”
An official complaint has been lodged in the Hunsur rural police station.
