Mysuru: Following the incident of child sexual abuse in a hamlet in H D Kote, V S Ugrappa, Chairman of Expert Committee, Prevention of Crime and Sexual Abuse on Women and Children, on Thursday, paid a visit to Cheluvamba Hospital where the three-year-old girl is undergoing treatment.

Though there is a special ward to treat sexually assaulted children, the authorities at Cheluvamba Hospital were treating the girl in general ward. On seeing this Ugrappa got furious and blasted the authorities. He lashed out on the officials including assistant commissioner of police and police inspector for their negligence in treating the innocent girl. “Do you think these people do not have any rights to protect their dignity in the society? The child is being treated in general ward which is something disturbing to even hear. You people have no responsibility”, admonished Ugrappa.

Later an argument broke out between Ugrappa and advocate Madhu, the legal advisor for the prevention cell. He questioned the lawyer why the child was being treated in general ward and what was he doing amid all these. “Were you not aware of the incident?” asked Ugrappa. Later, Ugrappa inspected the register and came to know that the victim was admitted on Monday which led him to question the advocate again who had told him the victim was hospitalised on Wednesday. Ugrappa was totally upset with the irresponsible words of the authorities and took them into task again. He assured the family members of the victim that best possible treatment would be provided to the child and the guilty not spared.
